Fall 11 pictures

On Sunday I piled everyone into the car and we took a drive to SF. Once there I turned my children into models and took ALOT of pictures. I decided to post my two favorite of each child! Hopefully that will reduce the feelings of being overwhelmed with pictures.

1st day of school...kind of

Koby leaves the house at 7AM to catch the bus so I got up early on the first day so that I could take a picture(s), but when I went to download them I saw that all of the pictures were extremely blurry-so much to his displeasure I told him I would need to take another picture on day 2. Sadly he left the house before I got to the camera-so technically this is day 3 of Koby's 8th grade year.

Morgan also started 1st grade and she was so excited that she wanted me to take more than one picture! She loves eating at school, more recesses, seeing all of her 1st grade friends and that her teacher is so nice.

Maylee didn't start school (of course!) but she is so darn cute that I have to take and post pictures! Here are a few of my favorites...

Pregnancy place?

Recent convo with Miss Morgan:

Morgan: Dad told me that when he is 50 I will get to go that pregnant thing like you.
Me: Pregnant thing?
Morgan: Yeah, you know that place you go when you are pregnant.
Me: I am not sure what you are talking about.
Morgan: YOU KNOW, like where you go at church.
Me: Do you mean relief society?
Morgan: Yeah.

It's true that a lot of the women in our ward are pregnant but that is not a requirement! I laughed so hard.

8 years

Eight years ago I married my sweetheart! I am constantly amazed by how wonderful he is! I love you Steve!

Over the past year Steve has lost quite a bit of weight and couldn't wear his wedding ring-it kept falling off. So finally we were able to buy him a new ring! I told Morgan about how Steve (and Koby) proposed so Morgan had to try to recreate the event when I gave Steve his ring. http://sbzabriskie.blogspot.com/2008/08/5-years-ago.html (click here for the story!)

Maylee is 5 months old!

(Check out those huge beautiful eyes & eyelashes!)
Our sweet little Maylee is 5 months old all ready! Here are a few things that we love about her:

* Always has a beautiful smile on her face! She is such a happy baby-she doesn't cry much. If you show her just a tiny bit of attention she usually laughs or shares her huge smile!
* Huge brown eyes-she is so alert and attentive to everything around her. She hates to be laid down or snuggled into you unless she is super tired because then she can't see what is going on.

* The most contagious adorable laugh, we all work at getting her to giggle because it's so cute!

*cooing/talking-Morgan is always trying to be our interpreter and let us know exactly what she is saying.

*Sitting up-she has great balance until she reaches for a toy and topples over but she is quite steady!

* Food-oh what a challenge! She hates rice cereal and once I bring the spoon to her lips she instantly clenches her lip and then blows a raspberry-guess who needs a bath after each meal? And it's not just Maylee! We have also tried green peas-no go and carrots-not too happy about it but at least she doesn't act like she is gagging on it!

*Maylee loves to play with toys and sit up in her excer-saucer and her high chair.

We are so blessed to have this wonderful baby girl in our family! We love you sweet Maylee!

Confession time

It's time for me to fess up.

I am not girly.

I am not good at "doing hair".

I didn't own a single pink article of clothing until Morgan came along.

I don't really like playing Barbies/dress up/make-overs, etc.

Morgan paints my nails more often than I paint them myself.

I own very little make-up--Morgan has more than I do and she is only 6!

I hate high heels/nylons/dresses/skirts.

I'd rather put my hair into a pony tail than spend more than 5 minutes with a curling iron, round brush, hair dryer.

So imagine my dilemma when I end up with the most feminine girl that I have ever met, as a daughter! She loves all of the things that I am not good at. She is so into clothes, hair, make-up and well anything else that you can define as "girly". Lately I have found myself asking her if what I am wearing looks ok. She loves shopping, doing hair, painting nails, etc.

She continues to amaze me with her fashion forward self. She spots trends like nobody's business. Lately she has wanted a feather in her hair-been asking for it for a couple of weeks now. I kept putting her off but finally gave in and said if she paid for it with her own money she could do it.

Yesterday while walking out of the salon she said, "I got my dream!" Here is my little diva with a purple feather in her hair. She is so happy!
I am so glad to have my little diva! She makes me smile and keeps life exciting! Love you Morg!

Family Project=work!

Koby is working hard at getting several merit badges this summer. One of them is family life and one of the requirements was to do a family project. So we decided as a family to clean up the outside of our home. We planned really big and then later made some adjustments so that the project was reasonable. We decided to paint the front door, paint the "garage" door and the trim. We also decided to remove 4 bushes that were on the side of the house-Steve really hated them and they drew bugs to our front yard like crazy. We also had a random tree growing in my flower bed that we decided to get rid of.

We decided to start at 9AM-probably should have started about 7AM instead since we worked for about 4 hours and it was so hot! We slathered on bug spray and got to work.

We are planning to make the side of the house into a flower bed but we were tired and needed to save some work for another day. It was actually kind of fun-we listened to music while we worked, and got to chat with each other without phone, tv, video games & computer interruptions. While painting I kept thinking about Tom Sawyer and how he was able to talk others into doing his work for him. I guess it's good that I don't have his skills because the work was good for me!

Maylee helped us out ALOT too! Poor baby worked so hard that she ended up with croup!

Lagoon

Last Saturday we got to go to Lagoon, courtesy of Steve's work-they gave us a great deal on tickets and provided lunch too! We decided to be wonderful parents and let Koby and Morgan bring a friend. Koby brought Kyle and Morgan brought Lily. The kids were so great and everyone had a great time. Maylee was amazingly good!

"Real food"

Maylee got to try rice cereal the other day-and just like her older siblings, she hates it! We've tried it a handful of times and now she just blows raspberries when I try to feed it to her. That leads to a necessary bath, which she is also getting too big for (the baby tub). The pictures are of her first try-Morgan was laughing so hard that Maylee couldn't help but smile.
