GO UVU!

This year UVU men's basketball won the WAC-their first year in the conference. The team was amazing and we were able to attend the last home game. Koby wasn't able to come with us so we invited Peyton to use his ticket. The girls were all so good and they had so much fun. They loved watching the green man group, watching the cheerleaders, cheering for the players and avoiding Wally the wolverine.

10th grade wrestling

This year was a pretty tough wrestling year for Koby. He was at a new school, new team mates, new coaches, new weight. He went back to being the youngest on the team again. He had a concussion that put him out of commission for about a month right in the middle of the season. He had a few wins and a lot of losses-which he chose to learn from. The most impressive thing is that Koby didn't quit. In general wrestling teams end up much smaller by the end of the season due to kids dropping out or becoming injured. Koby went to practices even after his season ended so that he could help the guys that were going to state. He just kept working hard and we are proud of him for that. On Tuesday night we had the SHS wrestling awards banquet. It was a nice dinner for the wrestlers and their parents. We ate, watched a slide show and then they gave out awards. Koby was able to receive a letter for wrestling plus he was awarded the most improved sophomore on the team. We are expecting a great wrestling season next year! I know he will do great.

Morgan's field trip to space

Ok just wanted a catchy title...we didn't go to space. We went to the planetarium. It was really cool and I loved spending the day with Morgan and her friends. We watched a cool 3-D movie about Lemurs. The first picture of the four kids is our group-the kids I had to be responsible for-didn't loose any of them, well at least not for too long. The second to last picture is Morgan's whole class plus her teacher, Mrs. Taylor. We explored a lot and then got to watch another movie in the dome. Morgan had a great time and she still likes having me go with her to school field trips-I know that won't last long so I have to go to as many as I can now. PS-when I went to bed the night before the field trip, I discovered this note in my room along with clothes that she had selected for me.

Morgan & Maylee's birthdays

Miss. Morgan turned 9 this year! It's crazy how fast she is growing up. On the weekend between Morgan & Maylee's birthdays we got to visit Gramma and Papa and have cake and ice cream. And our baby, Maylee bug turned 3! I love listening to her say that her birthday is on Marcha 9. Way too cute! We are so lucky to have these two in our family! Love them both so much!

New room!

I asked Morgan and Maylee if we could give them a new room for their birthdays this year and they loved the idea! Morgan was so excited that she started boxing up her room during January. Here are some before pictures. These pictures were taken after everything was taken off the walls so that makes it look very bare. The first thing we had to do was patch holes, a couple of big ones from Morgan swinging from the curtains and many many small ones from her using tacks to hang up stuff. Look close at this picture and you can see all of the spots where there is spackle. Next we painted. I encouraged the girls to try a gray or a cream color since we were planning to add polka dots. They both chose the same cream color-it's called creamy buttermilk. We ended up painting about five coats to cover the previous pink color. We also had to cover all of the places where Morgan had written her name-it was everywhere! At first everyone helped paint, Maylee and Morgan both ended up with some cream paint in their hair. Since Koby is so tall he really helped with the top half of the walls. After an hour or so Steve suggested a break and then said that he and I would just finish it. I really appreciated everyone's help, especially Steve's since he HATES to paint. Since we had to take most of the furniture out I just had Steve disassemble Maylee's toddler bed and then we were able to give away Morgan's old bedframe. The girls actually loved sleeping on their mattresses on the floor. Two days after we finished painting the polka dots arrived in the mail. Originally I was planning to paint on the dots but thankfully I had a genius idea of using vinyl. We looked at several stores and could not find the right colors so I searched on line and found the right colors already in dots and at a great price! The colors we went with are blue, green & two shades of purple. It was fun to stick them all over the wall. We also had some pink but decided we had enough color and that it looked great without it. Our next step was getting bunk beds. We decided to go with bunk beds to give the girls more space in their room, also the girls just really wanted them. The girls also wanted a "book nook" so we made some space where they can just relax and read. Morgan decided she no longer likes pink so I surprised her on her actual birthday with a new bedspread (old one was pink and green) that is purple and has peace signs-two of her favorite things. I thought I could give Morgan's old one to Maylee but she has grown attached to Koby's old one. It's blue and has cars and bears on it. The last thing we did was use my mom's cricket to print out the girls names. Morgan decided to use the extra letters on the door. It's officially the M&M room now. I am thinking about putting curtains back up-hopefully Morgan won't swing from them again. I also have a large magnetic board that I need to refinish and hang then the room will be completely done. The girls love it!
