Happy Birthday Morgan!

Yesterday my baby girl turned 4! I can't believe how quickly the time has gone. She asked me to take the day off work, so of course any excuse will do and I took a personal day. At Morgan's request we went shopping for some new clothes for her. This girl loves to shop-especially for herself. We made cupcakes-which had to be pink.
Isn't she just the cutest looking baker? (gramma she loves the apron!)
We painted our finger and toe nails, watched cartoons and played computer games. After Koby got out of school we went to Walmart so Koby could get his present for Morgan-he gave her a fish. A Betta that she is calling Goldie-weird since he is blue. We met Steve for dinner and then had her birthday party at the nickelcade. Oh and look closely at her pictures-you can see that she has gotten her ears pierced. We let her do that on Saturday. It was so sad to watch. She had the biggest grin on her face until they actually pierced her ears-then she turned bright red and bawled. She clung to me and wouldn't even look in the mirror to see them. After about five minutes she loved them again. She showed them off to everyone and is so proud of herself. I am glad we didn't do it on her birthday and that it was her choice to put holes in her ears.
Here are the top ten reasons that we love Morgan!
1. She is the sweetest little girl. She has a compliment for everyone.
2. She is such a girly-girl, she loves all the girl things like princesses, pink, dolls, nail polish, barbies, shopping, dresses--she brings so much diversity into our home!
3. She is always excited to see us and always says 'I love you'.
4. Gives the greatest hugs
5. Makes us laugh with her great sense of humor
6. Reminds us that Jesus doesn't like us to____ (ie-say a certain word or be mean)
7. Always has a smile
8. She likes to clean
9. Loves to sing and dance-she doesn't go a single day with out either
10. You were born! That's all it took for us to fall in love with you Morgan!

Children book exchange

Wondering if anyone is interested in a children book exchange...all you have to do is mail one book to the person at the top of the list and then send the paper to seven other people who are interested. If it works like it is supposed to and everyone participates you will end up with 35 books. Because I am a realist I know that won't happen but if we only end up with 10 new books that is pretty inexpensive. And if the worst happens and you get no books then atleast some kid somewhere is going to end up with a new book and you can count that as your good dead for the day! Please email me your address if you are interested: beckyzab21@hotmail.com

Remember that when you give a child a book it can open a world to them! That is all I am going to say to plug this idea...

Basketball Saturday

Koby in action
Here is Steve trying to coach the boys-he's only a head taller than they are!
Morgan-wondering when the game will finally be over!

Busy weekend!

On Saturday we found out that Koby has a basketball tournament next Saturday-which ruined our plans for going to visit my parents. So we decided to call up my parents and see if they were willing to have some unexpected visitors for the weekend and that we would leave in one hour. They said ofcourse we could come. My sister and her family were even planning to meet us there next weekend so I called to let them know the change in plans-they also decided to pack up and come right then too. I hated to spoil any romantic plans mom & dad might have had but they were thrilled to see their grandkids. As a bonus we got to surprise Rick & Tara by showing up to their sacrament meeting to hear them talk. It was great to see their reactions as they entered the chapel to see us taking up a whole pew! They did great and weren't too upset at us for popping in.

We got to sing happy birthday to Morgan and have some pink cake. The kids and I played Twister but I am not crazy enough to post a picture of me on here...

This picture show a perfect hairdo for Morgan-she had removed her piggytails and wouldn't let me fix it.

We had a great time visiting with my family. The kids had a blast and it was very relaxing for the adults-well except for when Jen-the slave driver-made me stay up until after 1:00 AM tying a quilt with her!

Mommy

I love being a mom but somedays it is just a very hard job. Somedays I wonder what I got myself into. And then something amazing happens-your child will say something that burrows them deeper into your heart, or they give you a hug, or they tell you that they love you. When that happens you realize that it is all worth it. Here are some of those moments that Steve and I have had with our kids...

Last Friday Steve got off work early and picked up Morgan. Morgan kept complimenting Steve- "Daddy you look so handsome today", "Daddy I am so glad that we get to play together today", "Daddy that is a nice shirt!". Steve said he was feeling really good about himself until Morgan than said, "Hey dad lets go shopping" in her very next breath. Our three year old was buttering up her dad so he would take her shopping!

Last night we went to pick up a few things at Walmart. Steve told the kids that they could each pick out something for themselves that cost $10. It took forever but finally we got our stuff and got home. Steve and I were in our room and Koby walked in with one dollar and said, "my toy cost $11 so I need to pay you back." What an honest kid-of course we didn't take his money, but wow!

We were in the car on the way to my grandma's house. Morgan was trying to buckle her doll into the extra seat belt. I said not to worry about it. She said, "Mommy she is a people too!" Needless to say her baby was buckled in before we got to the end of the block.

Koby loves to sneak up on me and scare me. I can usually catch him but sometimes he really gets me. The other night he was crawling on the floor into my room and then quietly reached out and put his hand on me. I jumped out of my skin and about peed my pant. In my defense I was reading a mystery novel and was at a really intense part!

In the car again listening to the radio and the nickelback song, Rockstar came on. Morgan said, I want to be a rockstar cuz then I can shake it. She later demonstrated how a rockstar shakes-pretty cute even if I have never seen a real rockstar do that.

In the mornings I have a tendency to have a hard time waking up. Some morning I am still upstairs getting ready to go while the kids are downstairs eating breakfast. Koby will often get on the intercom system and ask me if I would like him to fix me a waffle.

How wonderful it is to be a mom! I love you Koby and Morgan! Thanks for making my life so interesting and full of smiles and hugs!

The joys of winter in Utah

Is anyone else annoyed about the weather? I love how last week it was sunny and so springlike and this week winter is back-snow, wind, cold, etc. Last week Koby wore shorts and a jacket so today it took a big argument from me to get him to wear his snow boots and coat. Here are some of the best things about winter:
1. layering just to keep warm (to the point that you look like a marshmallow)
2. Shoveling snow/cleaning off the car before you can even get into it
3. Colds/Flu/Bronchitis/pnemonia/RSV
4. Shoes are a must and that is very hard for me!
5. Forcing my kids to stay inside because it is so cold or they are sick
6. Wet socks-even wearing boot and being careful my socks always get wet
7. Increased drive time (today I left 10 minutes early for work and got there 15 min late)
8. Bad air-the inversion sucks
9. It is dark at 5pm
10.Scrapping ice off the car windows

I guess there are some good things about winter but right now I am having a hard time thinking of them. I am so ready for Spring!

Hairy fun

I talked Morgan into letting me do her hair in a few different styles. since she got her hair cut she hasn't let me do anything with it other than combing it down. so here are a few pics...

Science & Basketball

This is Koby at the science fair. He got a ribbon for Honorable mention-he was actually glad that he wouldn't have to move on in the science fair. Good job Koby! These are pictures from Koby's game on Saturday. They won their first game! Koby is in yellow #10. He has on blue shorts that have a yellow stripe at the bottom.

Sorry that the pictures turned out grainy. I decided to just take them from the balcony rather than get down on the floor and take court-side photos-just so I wouldn't embarass Koby. But that does not mean I won't do that next Saturday!
