Let's take a picture...based on a true story

Narrator: Once there was a mother who wanted to take pictures of all the great things that her kids did. She laboriously carried a camera around with her on a regular basis. She often took the camera into dangerous situations just to capture moments of her adorable children's lives. She braved the cold, stormy weather as well as the sweltering heat. She wasn't slowed down when she was required to climb on top of things or crawl on the ground to capture the perfect angle. She knew she was doing her motherly duty and did it without complaint. And tirelessly she attempted this throughout her life without expecting even a simple thank you from the aforementioned children.

Curtains open and spotlight shows Mother and young daughter entering stage left

Mother brings out camera and young daughter responds with a combination of the following comments:

Typical Comments:
"Mom take a picture of me doing ____!"
"Did you take a picture of me with ____?"
"I look so cute!"

And the mother smiles as she sees the joy that is brought into the daughters life by taking the pictures.

ACT II-A young nearly-teenage son enters stage right, the mother runs behind him anxiously trying to take his picture.

Typical comments:
"Hmmmph!" Accompanied by rolling of eyes. (OK so there is rarely ever any usable comments but there is a lot of body language going on!)Immediately the boy must advert his eyes and turn his back to camera. In dramatic fashion the grand finale is when the young boy/man walks away from his loving mother and her camera.

Narrator: Despite the mother's best work all she ends up with are "butt-shots" and an even grumpier near-teenager. AND the mother smiles because she knows she is doing her motherly duty of annoying the near-teenager after all that is what he thinks she does best!

THE END!

LOL! I'm guessing it's not just a near teenager thing, but a personality thing too! Good luck with that! This wknd we went to take pictures and had a hard time dealing with the "fake Werry smile". So hard...
