Catching up...again

Lately it feels like all I am doing is trying to get caught up. As you can see from the frequency of my postings-I am not doing very well. It also seems like the summer is just flying by and due to some crazy things at work-I am working, instead of vacationing! I want to take more time off to play, but hopefully I can do that during the rest of the summer. I know that today is officially the 1st day of summer but since I work at UVU-summer here starts the first week of May. Once July hits-the rest of the summer usually becomes a blur! So here are the highlights of the last few weeks. *We had a streak of bad health-both Koby and I got strep throat and then Maylee got croup. Maylee had a nasty cough and I was pretty sure it was croup but the dr figured we better rule out pneumonia. It was awful! I had to hold Maylee down so that she could get x-rays done. She was crying so hard that her breathing and coughing just got worse. Thankfully she did not have pneumonia. (maybe that was a lowlight? rather than a highlight?) *Koby has decided to play football this year so he has been "conditioning" with the team four mornings a week from 6 (YES-AM!) until 8. Some days he even rides his bike there-man he is going to be so tone and muscular! *Morgan and I have been reading the Judy Moody books together and it's been really fun. Morgan loves to read just like her mom. Both Koby and Morgan got to go and spend a week with Papa and Gramma helping on the farm. They had fun but Steve, Maylee and I really missed them. Maylee even started talking to their pictures that were hanging on the wall. *Maylee is now 15 months old-still tiny as ever. This morning I weighed her and she is 19.4 lbs. and is 26 inches tall. Still a tiny little thing but so much fun and energy wrapped in that little body. She knows two signs (ASL), eat and more. She is chattering and "talking" so much, it's so fun to listen to her. *Boating day-my cousin Ben took us boating last weekend. It was so much fun-Koby, Morgan and Steve all mentioned that they would love to own a boat now. Maylee who hates being in the water took turns hanging out on shore with mom and dad. But Koby and Morgan didn't even leave the boat for four hours. *Visiting with my sister Debbie & Colt. It has been so long since we had seen them and Colt has grown so much and is so cute! He loved Morgan and followed her around for hours. I hope that we can see them again soon-rather than waiting so long. Mom and Dad also got to come for dinner and visit and then Matt & Mindy and family came over for breakfast-lot of yummy food and chatting. So much fun! *I got a new church calling. I am now in nursery-pretty convenient with Maylee not quite old enough to go to nursery but still too old to just hold still during church. The kids are really cute and I get snacks, toys and coloring time during church! *Steve is at scout camp! He really likes it but we sure miss him. Can't wait to see him when he gets home tonight! I think that's the gist of whats going on. I hope your summer is going well and it more lazy day summer than mine is!

Family night at Boondocks

On Monday night we got to go to Boondocks w/ my work. We had a great time-too bad that bedtime came so soon, I think we could have stayed and played for hours more!

Provo city center temple

On Saturday we got to go to the ground breaking ceremony for the new Provo city center temple. I thought it was pretty neat. It was kind of hard to keep Maylee entertained-similar to church. But I hope that the kids will look back on it with some good memories. Steve and Koby had the assignment to put away the chairs afterward-there were a lot of chairs! I heard that about 5400 people were there-thankfully there were many hands helping put the chairs away. Because we stayed for so long after we were able to all have a turn digging! Just as an interesting side note: When Morgan was little and we drove by the tabernacle, Morgan asked if it was a temple. I said no, it's the tabernacle. She then started calling it the "temple-nickel".

What's going on?

So I haven't really been keeping up on the blog lately, but despite that we are doing well! Koby finished wrestling for the season and I have loved having more free time on the weekends and the evenings. We actually get to eat dinner together and even hang out now. Koby did really well this year and he learned a lot. He really loves wrestling and plans to keep wrestling for years to come. He is doing great in school-lots of A's. They are starting the end of year tests now but tests (like pretty much any subject) tend to be pretty easy for him. The other day he got the results of his reading level test-5 means he is at grade level, he scored an 8! I guess it helps to make your kids read the scriptures out loud as a family, even when they are really young. I can't believe he is going to be a freshman next year-thankfully here freshman are in the jr high still so I don't have to feel quite so old. He is such a great big brother-he loves to play with Maylee-someone was joking the other day that he must have taught her some wrestling moves because she body slammed a stuffed animal. Koby also takes care of Morgan after school for us-what a good boy!

FHE-Morgan style

The other night Morgan was in charge of the lesson for FHE. When I got home from work she told me that she had already prepared everything. She began by showing us pictures out of an old church manual-they were pictures of couples, temples, holding hands, rings. Then she showed pictures out of Steve & my wedding book. She then told us that there are two options when you get married. You can either get married at a church or at the temple. She said that the temple is the better choice because that way it is forever. Here is part of the conversation. Morgan: So what choice are you going to make? Me: Ummm...I'm already married. Morgan: I know but WHAT would you choose? Me: Well I got married in the temple. Morgan: Ok, but which choice would you make? Me: Uh, the temple? Morgan: Good! Later she decided it was time to wrap it up so she bore her testimony, saying that she knows that temples are true and she hopes that she will get married in the temple, and you too KOBY and you too MAYLEE! (talk about being challenged!) She did an amazing job as always! We learned a lot!

Easter, Spring break & the kitchen sink

It's been so long that since I posted anything so in order to catch up I will have to talk about everything AND the kitchen sink! So here we go with the marathon post.

Easter: we spent Easter weekend at my parents house in Monroe, we spent several hours helping my brother Rick with yard work, it was cold and snowy, the bunny found us and he wasn't mad that we ran out of time and didn't color the eggs, all 3 kids had a great time playing with plastic eggs. Koby throws them, Morgan organizes and Maylee dumps them everywhere. Morgan wanted us to take some pictures of her so I gave Koby the camera and asked him to do it since I was trying to put Maylee down for a nap. He sure got some random shots-but I think it was fun for them. This is one I took a bit later.

Spring Break: Koby and Morgan spent half of the week helping on the farm-which they love. Then Koby went camping with the scouts to San Rafael. I took a couple of days off so that Morgan, Maylee and I could spend some time together. We got to help Grandma Sharon make wedding decorations, play with cousins, go to our first yard sale of the year and deep clean the girls room. Morgan was in a huge remodeling funk so we changed a few things around in the play room and her room and got rid of a lot. The hardest part is that it went so fast!

Kitchen sink (AKA-everything else): A couple of weeks ago, Koby got a concussion during wrestling-a little scary but he is fine. He got a knee to his head and blacked out for a few seconds.I finally got to do some sleep training with Maylee. I am so happy that after 13 very long months-Maylee is finally sleeping through the night. I am finished breast feeding! I am so proud that I went a whole year with Maylee-we didn't have to buy any formula. I got flowers planted in front of my house. I painted an old dresser and converted it into a place to store toys. I read a lot of books. Steve has decided to transfer stores at work and will be working out of the Orem store starting on Monday. I think he is excited for the new challenge they really need his help there and they let him know that. I started indexing files recently and it's been kinda fun. Oh and Koby and I got to go and see the Hunger games finally. We had fun together and the movie was great!
