5K & free fishing day

On Saturday Steve and Koby ran in a 5K with Steve's brother's family and his aunt, uncle, cousin, friend & a few thousand other people. Morgan, Cameron-my nephew & I waited close to the end to cheer everyone on to the finish. We had Cam practice saying, "Go daddy/mommy go!", sadly when he saw them he forgot his line until they were down the street. But he sure was cute! They all did an excellent job! Way to go!

Saturday was Utah's free fishing day-so we packed a picnic and went fishing. No one caught any fish but we still had fun!


After a bit of bad luck fishing, the kids and I had an impromptu photo session.

Oh brother(s)!

A few days ago Morgan and I had the following conversation...

Morgan: Mom, Koby and I are NOT friends! We are brother and sister.
Me: You can be brother and sister and be friends too.
Morgan: Really? (think of her tone as implying-right mom, like you know anything.)
Me: Yes, I am friends with my brothers and sisters.
Morgan: You like your brothers?
Me: Yes! I love my brothers-they are awesome!
Morgan: They are?
Me: Yes, don't you think Matt and Rick are awesome?
Morgan: Yeah. (long pause) I guess Koby and I can be friends.

And it's true I am really good friends with my brothers and sisters. I am so glad that we get along well and are always there for each other. I know that I am blessed to have a great family. I hope that when my kids are grown up that they will be great friends with each other...not to rule out having them be friends now!

Koby's graduation

Yesterday Koby graduated from elementary school. It was a pretty cool graduation-I got a bit teary eyed. I can't believe my baby is old enough to be going to jr. high in a few short months.



Koby's awesome grandparents drove 4 hours round trip to be there to support him! Thanks Gramma & Papa!

Of course Steve, Morgan & I were there.

What the kiddos are doing lately

Koby's school is attempting to have their students run 100 miles through out the school year. They get to go on a hike if they make it and have pizza at a park and play games. They walk/run everyday at school but when the weather is bad they stay inside and get behind. On Wednesday Koby told me that he needed to start running at home-he needed 30 more miles by next Friday. That is 9 days to run 30 miles. Last night between running at school and at home on the treadmill he is down to 20. I think he's going to make it!

Last night I let Morgan go to a RS activity with me. The young women were doing a modest fashion show. Morgan loved it so much that today she took all of her dress up clothes to the babysitter so they can do their own fashion show.

Mother's day was kind of miserable this year since Steve and I had strep throat. The kids were really sweet and great at taking care of us. I am so happy to have them!

Morgan-how much do we love you?

Here is a little story to demonstrate how much we all love Morgan. It will show you what great lengths we go to, in order to make our little girl happy!

On Saturday I went to get the mail, without Morgan. Huge mistake I know! She actually hates me to do just about anything without her. So anyway, when I got back she was plenty upset. On the verge of tears she said, "Mom, I know I had mail too! Why didn't you wait for me?" (She likes to pretend that she gets mail too.) So I looked at the mail in my hand and gave her a credit card application that was addressed to Steve. I told her that was her mail. She opened it and inside we found a fake plane ticket, passport and credit card. We talked about where she would like to go on a trip-she picked Hawaii.

So after dinner later that night, I asked Morgan to go upstairs and pack her bags. Koby helped her pack a few things. Here she is ready for her trip. If you look close you can see all of her official "paperwork" and the stow-away puppy.

She hugged Koby and I good-bye and then Steve took her to the "airport". In reality he went on a walk with her around the park. Then he brought her to our front door and hugged her goodbye. I was waiting at the front door and welcomed her to friendly airways. I looked over her ticket and passport and then escorted her to her seat. She was seated by Mr. Bear. She was pretty awed-for once she was actually quiet.

In the house Koby and I had lined up some chairs. Koby put on his suit coat and for some weird reason this thing on his head. Steve, after a quick good-bye ran around the house and was sitting in the pilot's seat next to Koby, the co-pilot. I helped Morgan buckle her seat belt-which was really a pink boa. Steve made the appropriate noises and they were off. Shortly after take off I, now employed as a flight attendant, served treats.

I was impressed by Steve & Koby's willingness to play along with us. It just goes to show how much they love our Morgan. That night while I was tucking Morgan into bed she told me that she loved her trip and thanked me for playing with her. What an inexpensive way to entertain her and to bring smiles to all of our faces!

Can I get a nap?

Lately we have been so incredibly busy. I was starting to think that it was impossible for us to get busier-WRONG! Yesterday Steve got a new church calling. He is the new scout master-can you say camping trips? Now he and Koby will be going on camping trips once a month and for a week in the summer! Plus he will have weekly activities. I am trying to move around my own weekly meeting so that someone can be with Morgan. It's a good thing that I carry two calendars in my purse, have a monthly calendar on the fridge and another one on the wall-otherwise I would not be able to keep up with everything.

Girl time

Over the weekend Morgan and I went to the women's expo with my sister-in-law Jody and her daughters Alysheah & McKenna and they brought a cousin with them. We had a lot of fun. There were so many people there! It was like a mad house. We got a lot of samples and had girl time. All of the girls got their nails and hair done. Don't they look adorable?


Then on Saturday night we got to hang out with my niece Peyton. Morgan and Peyt had a blast dressing up. They used these cute fairy outfits.

BTW-This could be a post about boy time too but Steve and Koby didn't take pictures of themselves going to a movie or working in the yard or doing 'boy stuff'.
