Roughing it: Camping & Scouting
Steve has promised Morgan that he would camp in the backyard with her for a very long time. Every time they planned it, there was some type of problem. The fires caused bad air and falling ash. Then it rained. Then it was too windy. Finally on Saturday night Steve said, "Ok we are camping out in the living room with the tent." What a sweet daddy!
Koby spent a week at scout camp. He got to do a lot of biking (about 50 miles), hiking, swimming, repelling and mountain climbing. He said that he had a great time. He did have one little accident. He wrecked on his bike and hit his head on a rock (thank goodness for helmets!) and scraped up his arm. This picture was taken about 5 days after it happened.
Maylee and I just roughed it in our own nice comfy beds!
Yard sale-ing
Morgan, Steve and I really like finding great deals at yard sales. Last Saturday we spent $13 (me=7, Morgan=6). She got the doll house, Barbie, "the head", 3 books and a cute pair of shoes that didn't make it into the picture. I got a dress, two pairs of jammies, a beanie and a shirt for Maylee, a jacket for me, pair of shorts for Morgan, a humidifier, and a hat for Koby.
Poor Steve didn't get anything except to hang out with us for a couple of hours!
Maylee really liked the doll house.
Pioneer day
On the 24th, Pioneer Day in Utah, we decided to go up into the canyon and have a picnic. It was so nice and cool up in the mountains. We had a yummy dinner and then played at a playground, played catch and soccer. It was so fun to just hang out as a family! We played for a couple hours and then headed home just before the sudden rain storm.
I LOVE MY FAMILY!

My girls
Last weekend we got to go visit my mom and dad on their farm. Maylee was a bit uncertain about being close up to the cows but Morgan enjoys it. Both girls love the 4 wheelers. Koby also loves them but I never got a picture of him on one-he must have been driving too fast!
Since Koby is gone to scout camp this week, Morgan got to stay with my parents for a few days-she loves it! It probably helps a lot that she gets spoiled rotten. When we got home from picking her up, she went to a friends birthday party and I noticed she was acting a bit sad so I decided that she needed some one-on-one time. So last night I took her to the movies and even let her have some treats!
My girls are so much fun! I am so lucky to be their mom!
Steve's birthday
Recently Steve celebrated his 36th birthday. Morgan really spoiled him-she made him this huge card-I think he loved it-it's hanging up in his man-cave.
Maylee liked it too!

Summer heat
Lately it has been HOT! The temps have been in the high 90's/low 100's and to make it worse-there has been a lot of fires in Utah already this summer. I just looked online and as of today there are six active fires here. The air has been smokey and smelly. The closest fire is about 25 miles away from our home but we still have experienced "raining ash".
Like nearly everyone else in Utah, we began to pray for rain. Yesterday it rained! It poured for hours! So I am very grateful to Heavenly Father for hearing our prayers and sending moisture that we desperately need. I am also grateful that my family is all safe and none of them are in the fire zones or near harms way. I hope it stays that way. I am grateful to the firefighters who are working long hard days with little sleep to protect homes and families.
