Haircuts

Took the kids to get haircuts today. Koby wanted only a tiny bit taken off. It doesn't even look like he got a haircut but he seemed happy with it-or atleast as happy as a teenager who is grumpy can be.

Morgan on the other hand knew exactly what she wanted-she told me that she wanted her hair like her friend Callie and when I didn't know what it looked like, she got out a doll and showed me on the doll. So I talked to her friends mom and got info on what type of cut she was talking about. It was very short! I tried to talk her out of it, said that we wouldn't be able to do piggytails and we would have to "do" her hair everyday. She told me, "Mom, it's just hair. It will grow back." So what can I say to that?! I let her get what she wanted and it looks ADORABLE!

To Facebook or not to Facebook

We finally let Koby set up his own Facebook account. It was a hard decision-on the one hand he is my "little" boy, ok so he isn't exactly little since he can look me directly in the eyes now, but still. I wanted to keep him in this protective little coccoon until he is atleast 30! On the upside I get to learn things about Koby that I didn't know-things he puts on the internet for anyone to see. It's interesting to see him grow up and become his own person.

Cramming

I have been cramming...

not the typical cramming for finals.

I feel like I am trying to cram so much into my time at home before my maternity leave ends. Which probably isn't the smartest thing to do. BUT I am doing it anyway.

I will have nine weeks off for maternity leave. In that time, besides having a baby and taking care of her and my other children, I am also doing the following:

deep cleaning the house
visiting family
writing thank you notes
doctor appointments
reading as much as possible
shopping for clothes that will fit my growing kids (high waters are apparently not "in".)
planning the baby blessing & brunch for 55+ people
going out to lunch with sis-in-law
purchasing new living room furniture
doing an ammended tax return
taking pictures, getting pics done
napping (which is really far too rare!)
homework with Morgan
etc, etc, etc

I keep thinking that I need to get as much done now as I can so that when I go back to work I won't be too stressed trying to get everything done on the weekends or evenings. I do realize that I will never get everything done so I might as well enjoy my last 3 weeks and forget all the extra work, right?!

Confessions of a big sister

The other day Morgan told me a couple of secrets. I am sure she won't mind me sharing them with you.

First she told me that she wants to be the best big sister ever. I told her that she is all ready a great big sister. And she really is! She adores Maylee and would do anything for her. In fact, despite gagging and almost vomiting she helped me clean up a very disgusting, poopy mess. Morgan is always kissing, holding, talking to her little sister and it's so sweet.

Morgan's second confession was to tell me that sometimes at night she tip toes into my bedroom and just checks on Maylee while she is sleeping. Despite the fact that Maylee sleeps in a cradle next to my bed and I am a decent mom who promptly wakes up every couple of hours to feed the baby...Well I guess it's good to know that Morgan is always there in case I fail to hear Maylee's little whimpers and noises in the night. The other day I woke up to see that Morgan had brought a chair into my bedroom and was just sitting there watching Maylee sleep.

As a big sister myself I didn't realize how great having a sister could be until I had children of my own. My parents told a story about when Jen was a baby and how I climbed into her crib (I was probably 2) and I pinched her-HARD! That kind of set the mood for our relationship while growing up. How sad that I wasn't a better big sister like Morgan!

I hope that my two sweet girls will always be close and have a great relationship with each other.
