Fathers

I have been wanting to write a blog about fathers but I have been way too busy...today things are in enough order that I can take a few minutes to blog.

Steve-the father of my children

When I met Steve I was a single mother of five year old Koby. Steve was so great with him--and still is. Steve would play cars with Koby, watch movies and just be buddies with him. He also taught Koby how to ride a bike without training wheels. Steve even had Koby help him propose to me. It was very sweet and romantic but that's a story for another day. While Steve and I were engaged Koby had a hard time knowing what to call Steve and we left the choice up to him. But, the moment we walked out of the temple after our wedding Koby started calling Steve dad and has never gone back. Steve has been a typical sports dad to Koby-he goes to all the games, paces the sidelines and then they hash over the game later. Steve never calls Koby his 'step-son' it's always 'Koby, my son'. Later came our little princess Morgan and boy does she have her daddy wrapped around her little finger. I am so blessed to have Steve be the father to my children and we are so grateful for him. Love you Steve!

Robert-my dad
I always thought of my dad as the big strong manly type. As a farmer he has worked very hard his entire life-his children also had to. But dad always joined in when we played too. We could often persuade him to play softball or a game of horse on the bball court. Both of my parents were very supportive and came to 95% of our sporting events, plays, performances etc. As his grandchildren have come along I realized that he isn't a big manly man-well I guess he kinda is but boy is he a softie with them. I have seen him hold dolls for his granddaughters, read stories and get down on the floor and play with them. Koby is his only grandson (so far...) and they have a very special bond. He had Koby driving the tractor by age 3(-Honest! He did have assistance though). Thanks Dad for being a great father and awesome grandfather. We love you!

PS- I am also very blessed to have an awesome father-in-law and grandfathers but I am out of time and space...

A quick note

I am in the process of moving at work-talk about a mess! I will be very grateful once the move is over! We were supposed to move on Thursday and Friday but Monday around 1:00 the movers showed up and said they were ahead of schedule so they would begin moving us today. UGH! I hadn't even packed up my office yet. So needless to say, I have boxes here and there and about everywhere in between.

Last night Koby's baseball team won their first game! YEAH team! Koby played really well and had several defensive saves. My favorite was when he dived for the ball, grabbed it and jumped up in time to tag the guy out at 3rd. We were so proud of him. And apparently so was his coaches because they named him the player of the game and he got the game ball. Morgan even cheered for him last night-her shout out was,"Go Koby! Have some fun!"

We recently had our Werry family reunion and I will share details about it and Father's day soon.

Back to boxes, tape and finding the movers...

Lazy days of summer?

It has been 'summer' semester at UVU for one and a half months, Koby has been out of school for two weeks now and it seems like the summer is already half over. I am still waiting for our lives to slow down. We seem to be running so much faster lately. If not faster definitely putting more effort into running in place.

Koby has two more baseball games and then the tournament. His games and practices have kept us busy since the first part of May. So even though we love watching Koby play ball it will be so nice to have the season over. He is going to a basketball clinic twice a week-thanks to a very kind neighbor giving him rides. He also has scouts thrown in just to avoid getting bored during the summer. He and Steve have a campout coming up soon.(that means another girls night for Morgan and I!)

We have also been busy every weekend with family reunions, trips/mini-vacations, the ward camp out, 5k race, helping my grandma, etc. One of these weekends soon we are going to get to stay home and just veg out-no plans, no need to rush off anywhere. I think it would be great to have a couple of days where we didn't even have to get into the car. What a dream huh?

Work for me has also been crazy. This time of year is always super busy for me-it's the end of our budget year so I stay busy spending down, reconciling accounts and cleaning up all of the budgets. This year we are also throwing a move into the mess. Next week we will be moving to our new office. Moving is never fun! It will be nice once the actual moving part is over!

There is still about two months of summer left and I am hoping that I can fit in a couple of lazy summer days-I've heard that they are pretty awesome...though I might have to schedule them in!

Philadelphia, PA

I kept trying to edit the slide show but it wouldn't work so this post should just be linked in your mind!

The following slideshow is pictures from my trip to philadelphia-it was so much fun and I took a lot of pictures. I loved the beautiful gardens, the old buildings, the old cobblestone streets, the historical sites and the food-ok so I loved it all. I spent hours site seeing but still didn't see it all. I hope to go back one day with Steve and the kids.

A 5K, family reunion and time at the park-all in one day!

On Saturday Steve completed his goal for the year-well one of them anyway. He wanted to run in a 5K this year and did it! I was so proud of him. He ran most of the way and only walked for a while. Much better than I could have done. When he was done his first comment was, "I can't wait to do that again!"

After the race we headed to Provo for a family reunion-it was for my grandma's side of the family. I knew very few people but at least we went. Here are pictures from the fun time we had!

Steve and Koby played football and then later they joined in a game of kickball. (And Steve wondered why he was sore yesterday?) Morgan played on the playground but every once in a while she would come and ask me to take a picture of her.

We took a lot of pictures of Peyton-my adorable niece! She is such a ham-she had us all laughing.

It was good to be outside and enjoy the weather and our family. Even though it was a very busy day I was so happy to be home!

Sunday pictures

I again dressed up the kids and paraded them outside to take pictures. We took my mom along too. Koby and my mom have an ongoing conversation/debate over who is taller. What do you think?

Trip to the farm

This past weekend we went to visit my parents. We stopped on our way to take a couple of pictures of the rainbows.

On Saturday Morgan had a great time helping Gramma in the garden. My mom has a huge garden!

One thing Morgan didn't like was getting mud on her feet. I love how disgusted she looks!

Saturday evening we went to the milk barn. Steve posed all GQ for me...and so did the cows. Morgan had taken the piggy tails out of her hair and ended up with this beautiful hairdo.

Steve, Koby and Morgan were all huge helpers. I thought it was really cool that Steve got right in there and helped my mom milk the cows.

Koby helped Papa all day long so he was pretty wiped out.

We had a great time visiting. Koby and Morgan are still there-and getting spoiled I am sure. On Saturday night we went over to my brother Rick's house and played games. It was a lot of fun but I have to put a disclaimer here.

**** I am not pregnant!****

We were all sitting around playing when Morgan announces to everyone that we are going to have a baby! Tara and Rick were both wondering if that was an official announcement. It is NOT! I am not pregnant-Morgan just desperately wants a baby sister-and no a brother will not do. Until she gets one she is willing to borrow my niece Peyton-that is if Matt and Mindy will let us!
