Unbalanced society
So why is it that weekends are only two days and the work week is five? It just seems a little unfair to me! And why is it that the weekends seem to fly by while at least Monday and Tuesday seem like an entire week long each? I think my biggest problem is that there is never a day that I can just stay at home-not leaving at all. And with all of the snow it is a very enticing thought to stay snuggled in a warm home with no plans.
We had another busy weekend-On Friday Steve was kind enough to take Koby and some of his friends to a Flash basketball game. Morgan and I stayed home and watched Tink (we had rented a very scratched up copy so we missed several chunks)and make a cake. Morgan helped with the cake by dumping a bunch of sprinkles on it-I tried to spoon some of them off so no one would end up with a mouthful of straight sugar...not that cake isn't straight sugar already. On Saturday we went to Koby's basketball game, another sad loss. I then went visiting teaching and did some huge house cleaning. That evening we took the kids to see Madagascar 2. It was actually pretty cute and we had fun together. After the movie we stopped to visit my grandma. Koby needed to use the computer so we hung out why he did research for his science project.
On Sunday we went to church. Morgan got to give the scripture in primary. She was so cute! It was like she was shy but still trying to show off. We were proud though because we knew she was nervous but she got right up and did it.
I will be so glad after Friday when Koby's science fair project is due. I am trying to make him have it all done by today but I doubt that will happen. My attitude is 'get it done-don't procrastinate' and Koby's is 'I have plenty of time-it's not due for another 4 days!' His experiment had to do with alka seltzer, sealed canisters (film-the old fashioned kind that nobody uses now that we have digital cameras) and exploding messes or just a fizzy mess. Here are some pics...
A while back I mentioned in my blog that I wanted to do my kitchen in an apple theme. Days later my sister called from DI offering to buy apple stuff for me. She bought all of this for me for only $6. Thanks Jen! I have rearranged it several times and may do it again, but as of today, here is my apple decor above one of the cupboards.

Crazy weekend
It's a good thing we had a long weekend because we packed so much into it.
Saturday morning Koby had a basketball game-where he scored his first two points of the season. Yeah Koby! They did loose but at least he had fun. After basketball we went to the church where Matt and Mindy blessed Peyton. It was really nice and after we had a huge luncheon. It was great to see everyone and just visit for a few hours. Peyton looked so cute!
We got to spend several hours with my nieces-Koby and Morgan had so much fun. Then we went out to dinner to celebrate Jen's birthday. After dinner we all went to our house to play games-it was a lot of fun.
That evening Jacob agreed to cut Morgan's hair. She is almost 4 and has never had a haircut. Mostly because it is still pretty short and it took so long to grow. But she had such uneven hair and it was really starting to look like a mullet. Morgan was very unhappy as you can tell from the photo. Thanks Jac for being so cool about cutting her hair while she was having a fit.
Yesterday I spent several hours cleaning our home office-I threw out a garbage sack of stuff. It looks much nicer now and hopefully we will actually use it as an office rather than just a 'pile everything in it room'. We tried to go to a movie but it was sold out so we went shopping instead.
So now I am back to work and our regular schedule, maybe it will be more relaxing than our weekend...sure and pigs can fly.

Bragging rights
I am going to take a minute to brag about my very brillant son. Last night we went to Parent-teacher conference. Koby's report card was filled with 100%'s, if fact only one grade wasn't. On one test he missed one so that score was 97%. His teacher Mrs Thomas, told us that Koby is probably the smartest kid she has ever known. She told Koby that she admired him because even though he is super smart he never makes anyone else feel stupid. She loves having him in her class. We rewarded Koby by taking him out to dinner-his choice.

The language of a 3 year old
If you can't figure it out...Horton hears a who. One day she will love that I posted a video of her picking her nose.

FHE
So last night we had FHE and the lesson was on setting goals for the new year. First we set family goals. Everyone threw out ideas-even Morgan, who suggested grapes, (???) and once a goal was explained, suggested we play with toys more. Koby suggested some really good ones-read scriptures as a family again, morning family prayer and a family vacation to Moab. Then we all set our own individual goals. We wrote them on 3x5 cards and put them where we could see them. Hopefully we will be able to do it!
Here are the new curtains...
Here is a picture of Koby playing basketball-and it is only blurry because he moves so fast! (He is the one with the ball.)And the other picture is Morgan who got a little bored watching the game.

New year...new curtains...new look
I know I haven't written for a couple of weeks...don't worry. We are all alive and well! I just haven't had much to write about. Now that Christmas is over we are back to our usual everyday routine which just screams fun!
Koby is back to school-we are working on a science project. He has an idea from when he went to 'bright ideas space camp' a couple of summers ago. So we just have to collect supplies. Some of you may have noticed that I keep saying we-that is because parents are supposed to help and my main job is just to nag at him until he gets it done. He is also playing basketball. He has one game each week, plus a practice. He also goes to scouts once a week-Steve is his leader so they get to go together. Koby has been spending a lot of time sledding with his friends. I am glad that he has such great friends that live right in our neighborhood.
Morgan is doing great. We have already begun making plans for her birthday, which isn't until February. She wants to have a party with all of her friends-a princess party. Shocker huh? It's hard to believe that my Morgan wants a princess party!Ok so maybe only if you don't know her. We have promised her that she can get her ears pierced when she turns four too. So she is thrilled about that. Morgan is now a sunbeam at church and boy does that make her feel grown up. The other night Morgan and I were watching Cinderella and she told me that she wished she had some little mice that wore dresses too. Boy that would be fun! (especially since her mother hates rodents!)
On Saturday night Steve and Koby got to go to the Jazz game with the Zabriskie boys. They had a lot of fun. They got home really late but both said that they had a great time. While they were gone Morgan and I went shopping. I got some drapes for our kitchen. I was tired of the fat white blinds on our sliding glass door-they were always breaking and looked so dirty. The curtains look so much nicer. I will post a picture soon. If ever I have the money to really decorate my home I want my kitchen decorated in greens and reds-like apples. So far I have an apple shaped clock and the new curtains. One day...
On Friday I came home with about an inch less hair, huge layers and bangs.(or as Koby used to call them 'fangs') I really shocked Steve and the kids. But I have been antsy about doing something different, so I was brave. I have been told that it makes me look younger-younger than what you may ask? I don't know, but certainly younger than our grandmothers. Maybe I will even post a picture.
So although the new year is only 12 days old-we are doing new things. I hope you all are enjoying 2009. I have great hope that it will be much better than last year-so far so good!
